Suppose we take our earlier example and expanded the program to English, Dutch, and Spanish. So essentially they have the exact same program, multi-part, and they all have its own modules, and they all sell for $500. But in reality, nobody will actually buy the program for $500 and then buy the same program in a different language for another $500. So what we want to do is we want to create one program, and when the user picks the program, they can then select the language that they want to do it in. So now we are going to expand the multi-part idea and explore a function called treat the children as a variant. So what we're going to do now is we're going to remember these are the three courses that we want to combine into a single course, which if you remember from an earlier tutorial is fairly easy. So that's what we're going to do. We're just going to take this one right here, copy the name, create a multi-part, and let's say we get rid of the name Dutch because we know that we're going to use this as a container for all three. So what we're going to do now is we're going to make this the $500, and then when you buy this single course, you will then be able to get one of the three in each language. So I'm just going to select. So these are the three that we want. So now the idea is when the user buy this course, they will be able to get one of the three here. So we're going to, let's just publish and see the problem we're going to run into, and then we're going to show what OASIS can do to allow you to turn on the ability for user to pick. So we're going to publish, and this takes a little bit to publish because they had to republish everything underneath. Now that we have published this course, let's switch back to learner to see what the learner sees. Notice now the learner only sees one for $500, so let's go through the purchase process. So we're just going to use a fake credit card to get past the purchase process. So when we start, you will see that there are three courses that's listed, and that's actually not what we want, right? Because we only want the user to pick one of the three. So this is what we're going to do. We're going to go back to admin, and then we're going to navigate back to the course, except this time under multi-part setting, we're going to say that treat children as variant. So what this means is the user who have access to this course only have access to one children instead of all the children. One child, I should say, instead of all the children. And then you have option to say, how is that selection made? Is it randomly selected or user selected? So we can say user selected. So now if we switch back, let's go to my courses. Let's go to the course where we're looking at right here. See now, instead of user have access to all three, the user is prompted to say, hey, which one do you want? So since we're on this screen, let's give it a little bit more information, right? So what we can do is this information, we can modify a little bit, and the information here, we can also modify a little bit. So let's see what we can do to make those modifications. So we're going to switch to admin. And we're going to go here. We're going to go to multi-part setting. So we can set some user instructions. So we can say, please select the language. Select the course in your preferred language. Okay. Let's say we want to say that. Now what happens is, if I go to the course, so now if I go back, notice that the wording is no longer the default instruction, but whatever we have typed in. So suppose this white space you also want to utilize, then what you can do is, we're just going to do one, but you'll see that the idea is the same. So by default, the subtitle is displayed there. So what we can do is, we can go to this course, and then we can go to child. The English, we want to have a little bit more instruction. So under configuration, there is course subtitle. So we can say something in the subtitle, such as, this is the course that has 80 plus modules in English. Okay. So now if I switch back as a learner, if I click into it, there's going to be a little bit more instruction here to help users select. So, but now remember that this selection is irreversible, so that when the user click into it, the user can no longer make select, change their selection. So if I click on my courses, let's say a few days later, and try to enter the course again, notice that I go directly to the English version, because my selection has already been made. So this is just an example of how you can make child courses that is variant, so that when the user select a course, they only get one children instead of all the children for the multi-part.
Video Summary
In this video, the speaker discusses the concept of creating a program in multiple languages. They explain that rather than selling the same program in different languages for separate prices, it is more practical to create one program with language selection options. The speaker demonstrates how to combine three courses into a single course using a function called "treat the children as a variant". They show the process of creating a multi-part course and adjusting settings to allow users to select their preferred language. The video also covers customizing instructions and subtitles for each language option. Finally, the speaker emphasizes that once a language is selected, it cannot be changed.
