In this video tutorial, we'll go over how to configure the panel on the left hand side for the catalog, where learner can quickly search for content that interest to them. Keep in mind that this panel is referred to as a search panel. Each group within here is referred to as search criteria, and each option under the criteria is referred to as a search panel. In order to configure this, we must go to the admin control panel, so switch to administrator and go under public catalog setting, and go under search criteria setting. As you can see here, there has already been a few search criteria set up, and inside each search criteria, there has been a few search options configured. In this video tutorial, we'll go over how to set up a new search criteria, how to add new search options, and how to tag the courses into each search options. Keep in mind that courses are not automatically tagged to the search options unless you come to this screen and tag them manually. So we're going to add a new search criteria, wait for the admin screen to pop up, and let's say we add a search criteria. In this example, we can say we're going to create a search criteria based on the course complexity, so let's call it course difficulty. As you can see, when you set it up, there's a display order which automatically sets the new one to the last one. You can always click on it and change the display order to higher on the list. So now we're going to add, let's say the first one is going to be easy, and then we're going to add two more, one is called medium, and one is called difficult. So we have created, essentially, a way to tag all the courses into one of these options. All you have to do is click on the add icon, and then you can start selecting which course you would like to show up. So we can say this one, you can do a search, you can say, okay, the star courses, these three is considered to be easy, and I will tag a few more courses. Let's tag this one, this one, and this one. Let's tag a few. So obviously, I'm randomly tagging the courses, but the idea is to show the mechanics of how to do that. So let's do stomach, there we go. As you can see, you can tag courses inside these search options, and one course can actually be tagged into more than one search options. And it can be in easy and in difficult, or it can be in easy and in star program. When it is tagged, we simply have to go to the learner view and confirm that whatever we have tagged is working. One more thing before the end of the tutorial is that a tag, a search option, should have at least one option. And when there's only one, you cannot use a twisty to expand, because all courses tagged to the only criteria is considered that particular search option. In order for the twisty to actually slide open, you must actually have more than one criteria. For example, inside the criteria, as we can see, star program only has one, PIM only has one, and the GSAP only has one. In these cases, the twisty will not open, and you can only click on the root level. That concludes this tutorial on how to set up search criterias, which is the browse panel on the catalog.
