Video Transcription
Hi, this is a video of the Catalog Filters. As a learner, I am signed in as a learner. There are tabs on the left side of the menu that is available. There is the Catalog View. The Catalog View shows all the courses that is available in your LMS. And there's also the My Courses tab. It is specific for each learner and shows all the courses that the learner has started. There's a feature in the Catalog setting where you can hide or show certain courses. As a learner on a Catalog View, I can see this course named Certification Requirement Demo. In My Courses, I have this course named Level 3 Quality Control Technician Inspector Certification Exam. Let's move over to the Admin. I have another tab open here. And it has the Admin Privilege. Let's click on Certification Requirement Demo. And as you can see, the courses are differentiated by department or by lecture codes. Now let's go to the Dashboard. On the left side, you will see a Catalog Settings. Let's click on that. Here is where the settings for the Catalog is maintained. There are two filters that we could configure. The Custom Filters control the Catalog View. And the My Courses Custom Filters controls the My Courses Learner tab. Let's click on the Custom Filters. Let's create a new filter. I would like the filter on Department instead of Lecture Code. And I would like to exclude courses that are in the Certification, not Education, Certification Department. Let's click Save. I would like to do the same for My Courses. I'm going back to the Dashboard. Go back to Catalog Settings and click My Courses. And do the same thing. I'm going to filter on Department, Exclude, and Certification. And click Save. Now, let's go to the Learner tab. And you can see here, I have the Level 3 Quality Control before I refresh it. After refreshing, I no longer see the courses that are tagged as Certification. If I go to my Catalog, you will see that I no longer have the Certification Requirement demo. Now, to feature a course, we'll override the Exclusion filter. So, let's go over to the Admin side to show you what I mean. So, the Certification Requirement demo, it no longer shows in the Learner tab. I cannot see it. But if you feature this course, right here, that little box, and update. And let's refresh the Learner side. You will see the Feature tab. And the feature will override the Exclusion rule. So, if you just want to show something, a feature would do that. And that's how Catalog filters work. Thanks for watching.
