This is part one of a two-part video series on how to use OASIS to do in-service exams. In-service exam is basically a standard self-assessment exam within OASIS, but we want to single it out as a use case because there are some subtle wrinkles that's associated with in-service exam that is not always typical within self-assessment exam. So what we're going to do is we're going to pretend that the question that's going to be used in this in-service exam has already been written. In reality, you might want to write new questions, or you might want to reuse existing questions or a mixture of both. But for this demo, what we're going to do is we're just going to create a brand new exam. So under courses, we're going to add an exam and we recommend using assessment exam feature. So let's say we call it in-service exam. OK, and most importantly, if your questions are tagged to your taxonomy, you will be able to select the topics and then you'll quickly be able to populate questions into the exam. So typically, in-service exam does not offer credit. So we're just going to skip this step. And most of the time in-service exam is free, but the program will pay for it. So we're going to leave it as free. And then we're just going to have an exam feature turned on. So the next step, we are going to set up the actual exam. This video tutorial, we will set up the in-service exam as a pretest, which means the user exam is not graded and displayed to the user when they submit. And when the user finished submitting, all they know is the fact that they have submitted the exam and there is no additional information revealed. So because that mechanics, we want to select pretest. And let's say we want to have 100 questions in this test. In the next video tutorial, we'll show how to use assessment exam to do in-service exam. So we want to have a static and typically in-service exam has a time limit. So let's suppose it's two hours. And then what I'm going to do is I'm going to say that we're going to reuse some of the existing questions. And I'm just going to skip this page. And I'm going to randomize the question sequence and click on save and continue. So now what I'm going to do is I'm going to reuse some existing questions that I already have, either in the item bank or in another product that I already have in the system. In reality, if you want to write brand new questions, you just want to make sure that the is open for writer is turned on so that you can start writing questions directly. But for this case, because this is a demo, we want to keep things fast. I'm just going to click on add. I click on, let me just start over. I click on populate question. I click on add question. And that basically says, okay, I want to reuse questions from volume three of an old product. And let's say I'm going to just reuse all of the questions. So there's multiple ways you can add questions to the exam. So this is, in my mind, the easiest way. So now I have added 100 questions. I am good to go. Before I publish the exam, I just want to remind everyone that that's sort of the easiest way to get 100 questions into the system. You could click on populate question, click on update with question IDs, and then you can basically grab the IDs and copy and paste in here. And the easy way to grab question IDs is go to questions. This is a question ID, right? So you can do a search, and then you can basically copy question IDs, and you will be able to grab a list of question IDs that match the search criteria. So this actually has all the question IDs. So if you just use a filter, you will have filtered down to all the question IDs. In any case, suppose now that I have all the questions populated. I'm going to go back to this exam. And I will go to the pretest I have set up, and I just confirm I have 100 questions. They all look right, and I'm going to do a randomized sequence. So the way that they're displayed, default sequence is not a problem for me. Sometimes your pretest, you might want to have pilot questions. If you want to have pilot questions, we have another video tutorial on how to manage pilot questions. But for now, suppose you don't have pilot questions, so all you have to do is just publish. Now, typically, a particular in-service exam is not suitable for your general audience. So what you do is you click on edit, and you want to change it to manage enrollment. And then that means it's not displayed on the catalog, and the user will have to be manually enrolled. And the way that typically in-service exam is enrolled is you can do an invitation code. And then you might want to, depending on how your in-service exam is administered, you might want to, sometimes you will say, you know, first group is called, I say, group one. And then there's a particular start date and end date for this group. And then you can have another group with a different code. So notice that the idea here is whoever has the code will be able to access this course, and if somehow they share the code, it's sort of out there in the open. But you can see you can set up the invitation code, and then what I'm going to do is I'm going to publish. So this is how you would do a pretest, and I'm just going to do the publication process. So here we go. So now it is published. What I'm going to do is, okay, so it looks like there's a professional, so there's a couple topics that I need to unmap because I did not have questions that belongs to those topics. So OASIS is a little bit sort of protective in what questions you add to a course, so that if you say that you're going to cover these two topics, but you did not put any questions in those, it's going to warn you. So now that I have removed those topics, it should let me publish. So let's try that again. So now it's published, and it says that, hey, you know, you want to do a private enrollment, what exactly is your rule? So that's our rule. And I notice this one has three Xs and two Ys, but it doesn't really matter. It's just a code. So now what I'm going to do is I'm going to impersonate as a learner to show how the learner experience will work.
Video Summary

The video demonstrates creating a brand new exam under the courses tab and recommends using the assessment exam feature. The in-service exam is typically free and does not offer credit. The tutorial sets up the exam as a pretest, where the user's exam is not graded or displayed. The video also discusses reusing existing questions and provides instructions on populating the exam with questions. Finally, it explains how to manage enrollment for the in-service exam. No credits were granted in the video.
