Typically, in a service exam, you don't want the user to review the exam because you want to reuse this question over and over and they are considered secret. So you don't want people to review. But the fact that you don't allow the user to review essentially means the user will not be able to get anything out of finishing the exam because, I mean, other than the fact that they get 68 percent, they have no idea what they missed, what's their strength, what's their weakness. So if you turn on the report, this gives some level of scoring, but that's a pretty, pretty, it doesn't contain a whole lot of information. So what OASIS allows you to do is to say, hey, I don't want the user to review the exam and see the questions they missed, but, because I want to reuse this question year over year, I do want to give users some sort of diagnostic report so that they can assess themselves. And keep in mind, this actually is available regardless what type of exam it is. It's available whether you use it for in-service exam or just a regular self-assessment exam. It's just a button that we turn on. So to do that, as administrator, I can go back to the exam, and I can go to competency diagnostic. So when we publish the exam, we actually just kept it as turned off in one of the publication wizard, but if we change our mind, we can turn on competency diagnostic. So when we turn it on, there's a few things to keep in mind. The first thing is, the idea behind competency diagnostic is that we are going to take all the questions that user have missed, or the user have answered incorrectly, and display something about those questions. So what we can do here is I'm just going to do some setting, flip to the user side to see what the user sees. So the first, I can say that this name by default is going to be competency diagnostic report. I can call it Your Weakness. And then we can say, please review the information below to know where you are weak. So obviously, it's just an instruction, you can make it to say whatever you want. And then let's say the title, we can call it Weakness Report. You can leave it empty, and the default text is going to show up. Footer, you can, it's optional, you can say, if you have questions, call me at 111-2555-6789. So let's say that's the information we want to display, oh yeah, and we have to display something about the question. So I can say, I'm going to display the commentary of the question for every question you have missed. So let's say I do that, and I click on Update. So now what I'm going to do is I'm going to switch over to Learner to click on Reload. So notice that there's a button here called Your Weakness, which is exactly what we said that the name of the report is. So okay, Your Weakness, I'm going to click on it. Here you can say that that's the user's name, this is user score, and this is the instruction, this is the report title, right? So just so we can tie this together, here we go. So you can see that the name is the button, the title is right here, the instruction is right here, and then for every question that they missed, we're displaying the commentary. And then at the very end, there's a folder. So now, let's say you say, okay, I also want one user to see how they compare against their peers and the passing score, and I also want to, say, show a score within each topic, right? So you can do that, and come over here, I'm going to just reload the page. So now, the peer average, well, it's a brand new exam, I just took it, I'm the only one who took it, so that's why it's NA, but the passing score is 80%. I can see my score here, and I can also see the commentary. So as you can see, based on what you want to turn on, if you have additional fields, you can turn, for your questions, the field is going to be here. You can turn on notes, if you put anything specific in the notes, just for competency diagnostic, you can turn on the topic, you can turn on the reference, so let's do that. So if I come over here, reload, you can see that's the reference, that's the topic. So really, it's completely up to you what you want to turn on and turn off as a part of your diagnostic report, and the user will be able to get it. And last but not least, you can also say that I want to create a link back to the question, if you allow question review, you can also say I'm going to allow people to download it and email it to themselves. Now if I do that, the button to download an email to themselves shows up right here. So this is just an example of how you can turn on a diagnostic report, which typically is used for in-service exam as a feedback to the learner.
Video Summary
In this video, the speaker discusses the importance of allowing users to review their exam results in order to identify their strengths and weaknesses. They explain that while exam questions are generally kept secret to allow for reuse, it is still beneficial to provide users with a diagnostic report so they can assess themselves. The speaker demonstrates how to enable the competency diagnostic feature, which displays information about the questions users have missed and allows administrators to customize the report's name, title, instruction, and footer. They also show how additional features like peer comparison, passing score, and topic analysis can be included in the report. Overall, the video serves as a guide for using diagnostic reports as feedback for learners. (Transcript credits: Transcribed by https://otter.ai)
