you have a document repository has grown over time and instead of having just three or four files you actually have 300 or 400 files broken into multiple modules that's nicely organized but it become very difficult for user to find what they're looking for in addition let's go back to the learner even though you have a search it's sort of tucked out of the way so that because you want the user to see the content up front you have another option which is under the document repository you can go to managed feature and then you can turn on search centric layout what that means is the layout will change to emphasize the ability to search instead of organizing in a nicely structured folder and the idea is you know you the content is still available for the user to click on the folder structure but the search is really the best way to find things that you're looking for oh by the way i also want to turn on a lot of bookmarking to show that that's another learner tool that's available so now if we switch the learner you will see that the search the the modules is shown up at the top but the module shortcut i should say is shown up at the top but even though that's showing up at the top the user's eyes is actually naturally gravitate towards the search bar and they can search here so if i search for elephant i will be able to actually find the elephant i can play the video and the the overall user flow is slightly different just because it is a search centric view and i can bookmark things i can go back to the search and i will use the filter i can actually look for all the ones i have bookmarked all the ones i have viewed and all these filters automatically show up for you if you use a search centric view
Video Summary
In this video, the speaker discusses the challenges of searching for specific documents in a repository with hundreds of files. They introduce a search-centric layout feature, which prioritizes the ability to search for content rather than organizing them in folders. By enabling this feature, users can easily find what they are looking for by using the search bar. Additionally, bookmarking is highlighted as another helpful tool for learners. The video demonstrates how the search-centric view enhances the user experience by allowing for efficient searching, bookmarking, and filtering options. No credits were mentioned in the transcript.
