Hello, this is the first video on how NME courses work. Suppose you have two courses, the sixth stage of foot allergy parenting in Spanish and a regular sixth stage foot allergy parenting in English. This can be, I don't even say it is English, by default it's in English. And they're both offering some credit, right? And on the user side, if I just search for six, you'll see that both courses show up. The problem though is the Spanish version and the English version are essentially the same and you'll prefer that someone who has taken the English version cannot take the Spanish version and receive the same credit just because they are essentially the same. When that is the case, what you can do is you can come over here and say, course NME courses, and I'm just going to add a new pair to say, if the user has taken this one, I'm not going to let them take this one right here, right? And I want to check the box for bi-directional so that if the user taken A, they can now do B, and if they have taken B, they can now do A. So now that I have set up the NME courses, what I will do is I'm just going to go through this process of taking, let's see, I'm going to take the English version. I'm just going to quickly pay for it, okay? So here we go. I'm just going to use a fake credit card because this is actually a demo site. And keep in mind, the way that OASIS enforces NME courses is at the point of purchase. So now that I have purchased this course, I'm just going to start it, okay? Now that I have purchased this course, if I go to the catalog and they want to do the Spanish version, notice that I'm no longer eligible and the system will actually tell them that you're trying to access this Spanish version, but you have already taken the English version. The two courses are mutually exclusive and you cannot access, and you can access the English version under My Courses. So as you can see here, the whole point is that when the user has taken one of the course, setting up NME course ensures that the user cannot take another course that are functionally equivalent. Another use case for setting up an NME course is if you have a webinar course and then you take the recording from the webinar and set up an on-demand version of this course, and you want to make sure that the on-demand version and the webinar of the same course are enemies, so the user cannot take one, cannot take both, they have to take one or the other. Thank you.
Video Summary
In this video, the speaker explains how NME (Non-Mutually Exclusive) courses work. They use the example of two courses: a sixth stage foot allergy parenting course in Spanish and a similar course in English. Both courses offer credits. The problem arises when someone who has taken the English version wants to take the Spanish version and receive the same credit, even though the content is essentially the same. To address this issue, the speaker demonstrates how to set up NME courses using a platform called OASIS. By setting up NME courses, users are prevented from taking multiple courses that are functionally equivalent. The speaker also mentions another use case for NME courses, which is to provide alternatives for webinar courses.
