So on the very left side is a default setup for product. Notice that there isn't anything between the store code and the course access.  That means every product is configured as just a product. On the one in the middle, you can see that there is an extra line called product line.  It's what Oasis referred to as a flex field. As in, any learning activity can be mapped to a lookup field that becomes a drop down when you set up a course.  So you can have one flex field called product line. Or on this example, you can see that there are three flex fields.  One called product line, one called sponsor, and one called activity type.  Notice that there is no business logic that's going to make your system work differently when you have the flex field enabled or not.  But sometimes, if you want to report your product by breaking them into buckets, then having flex field is important.  So for example, if you use Oasis to make purchase and you have a flex field, you can run purchase report based on which product line or which flex field it belongs to.  So that's just one example of where even though enabling flex field or custom fields for your learning activity, even though it does not cause any system behavior change, it can help you with various reporting purpose.  So that is something that you cannot enable on your own. You will have to reach out to Oasis support and we will enable the flex field for you.  The only reason is because sometimes these flex fields might require integration. Thank you.
