The next recommendation engine we would like to highlight is Evergreen Recommendation. The idea behind Evergreen Recommendation is fairly straightforward. If you have a product that you always want to recommend regardless who the user is or what they have done in the past, then the Evergreen Recommendation is the way to go. The idea behind Evergreen Recommendation is if you have a high ticket item or if you have something that is just so important, you want it to be at the top of the list for everybody, then you want to do Evergreen Recommendation. So what we're going to do is I'm just going to come over here. Oh, sorry. Let's go over here as Ashley Graham. And I'm just going to refresh the screen and click on Recommended. So here there are four things that's being recommended for Ashley. What I'm going to do is I'm going to create. So hold on a second. So I am going to turn on Evergreen Recommendation. I click on Manage. And what I'm going to do is I am going to add Evergreen Recommendation to the system. So keep in mind, the Evergreen Recommendation has this concept of priority. So, for example, let's pick one that's not on the list for Ashley. Right. So let's pick. So the culture and the community town hall is already here. Grand Rounds is already here. Relevance is already here. So let's pick. Let's pick this one. Immunology context. OK, let's say that it's priority one. Great. So now what happens is this particular course is always going to be recommended above everything else. Now, I can also add something that's, for example, let's pick sudden rise and fall of telepath. And let's make this one, too. The idea here is the way that the Oasis is going to organize a recommendation is going to say, if you put one, we're going to make sure it's at the top of the recommendation. Then we're going to put other related or all the cross selling recommended courses right below one. And then we're going to display all the evergreen recommendation. That's two and then three, then four, then five and so on and so forth. Then we're going to display the common learner recommendation. So that's the idea. So keep in mind there in a way you can game the system by make a lot of things party one. So they will be at the top or you can make all your evergreen recommendation two and three and four and five and so on and so forth. So that the cross selling is at the top. That way, everyone's recommendation list at least will look different in the sense that the recommendation list is only different at the top. But when you look down a little bit, it started to get to become the same. Right. But the idea here is you can sort of control or nudge where the evergreen recommendation show up on the list by assigning priority one or priority two and above. That is a logic behind evergreen recommendation. Now we're going to show the user experience in the next video. Thank you.
Video Summary
Evergreen Recommendation is a system designed to consistently promote a specific item regardless of user behavior or history. It ensures that high-priority items are always displayed at the top of recommendation lists. Users can assign priority levels to items to influence their visibility. The system organizes recommendations by placing top-priority items first, followed by related content and other recommended courses. This allows for a degree of customization in how recommendations appear, while maintaining the desired prominence of evergreen items. The next video will explore the user experience of this system.
