Video Transcription
In this video tutorial, we'll talk about a few caveats when you're updating the content of a SCORM file. On the left-hand side is the administrator site where you can see that for the course called Greek 101 Biblical Greek. There is multiple videos, but then there's a SCORM file right here. On the right-hand side, I have logged in as a user called Dan Soros. I'm just going to refresh the screen so you can see that there's a SCORM file that the user can take. Imagine the user has started the course. In this particular course, I'm just going to go through this SCORM file. I'm just going to walk through this course. As you can see, the user will interact with your SCORM file. I have not introduced any new concept at this point. Suppose after a year or so, you realize that there needs to be updates made to the SCORM file. Your first instinct is going to be click on the pencil icon and then upload a SCORM file. I'm just going to upload a new SCORM file. The problem when you do this is because there's a problem because the SCORM file that is, let's call it version 1, the user's progress may not be able to support the version 2 of the SCORM file. What that means is I have not clicked on save here. Normally, when the SCORM starts, the user is prompted to say, do you want to resume where you have left off? But if you upload a new version of the SCORM file, the new version of the SCORM file may not be able to let the user resume because the progress the user has made is based on the version 1 of the SCORM, and that progress may not be compatible with version 2 of the SCORM. So rest of the tutorial will talk about what you can do to handle such case where you need to replace the existing SCORM with a new version of the SCORM course. Thank you.
