The easiest way to make an update to your existing SCORM file is to do what your instinct tells you, which is just update the SCORM file by clicking on the edit, click on the edit pencil icon, and then upload the new version of the file. Now when you upload the new version of the file, there is one thing that's very important. You can toggle to preserve user progress. When you make this toggle, what you're saying is you're making a promise to OASIS that the new version of the SCORM file is similar to the old version of the SCORM file in a degree that user's progress on version one of the SCORM file is compatible with version two. And then you're toggling this so that OASIS does not delete existing user's progress. Otherwise, by default, OASIS does not preserve user's progress, which means once you click on save, any user's progress that was made in the old version of the SCORM will be completely lost. As a matter of fact, just as an example, if I click on this, you will notice that I will start from the very beginning, even though this is a new version of the SCORM file, because my progress was not preserved. So once again, the easiest way, though very destructive, is to click on the pencil icon, upload a new version of the SCORM file, while keep preserve user progress as null so that everyone's progress is deleted and everybody has to do the new SCORM file once again. Thank you.
Video Summary
To update an existing SCORM file, simply click on the edit pencil icon, upload the new version of the file, and toggle to preserve user progress. By toggling this option, you ensure that existing user progress is compatible with the new version. If you don't preserve progress, any user data from the old version will be lost when saved. Be cautious with this method as it will require users to start from the beginning with the new SCORM file. So, the easiest but potentially destructive way to update a SCORM file is to upload a new version while setting preserve user progress as null.
