Oasis LMS has been enhanced to allow a different way of setting up course metadata. Before you can simply set a free text by clicking on add new and tag a key value pair for all your courses and all your content within a course. If the free text gives too much flexibility and you want the Oasis to enforce only valid values from a particular list, what you want to do is you want to go to courses, go to course metadata and change the toggle to list based. When you change the toggle to list based, you can then go to manage metatag and then you can set up metatags and then the selection of metatag will no longer be text based but list based. So here's just a quick example. Suppose for other assets I want to be able to tag to say, let's use a spreadsheet here, to say that I want to have a condition and you can put one value at a time or you can just check the box and copy and paste multiple values one per line. So let's just do that, click on save. So here the system will recognize that the condition is a valid meta key and all the rest is a valid meta value. So let's just do another one just so that we can see how it's in action. So I'm going to say category and I will say here is a list of values that is acceptable and save. So now all the assets will be able to tag to category with the drop down of these values. So this allows you to use the same terminology across the board and avoid the cases where different users, different faculties or administrators are tagging you slightly different variations that says the same thing. So there is a list for assets and there is also a list for courses so let's just do the same thing and that will show how it's going to look for the tagging process. And last but not least, let's add a keyword. save and that's a keyword for courses we can also do a keyword for other asset and I'm just going to make the sound in this example I'm just going to have the same list for both asset and courses even though potentially they could have different list so now let's go back to your courses and let's just start tagging them so let's just tag one of them so you can tag metadata so notice now because it's a drop-down list based metadata you can no longer use a free text instead you have to use a drop-down so you say condition and you can say for example you select the value and it will be tagged like so in addition you can do the same thing with your asset so let's find a course that has a lot of asset so I will go here and under content I can start tagging them by selecting a keyword for example and picking the keyword so as you can see here you you have the you lose the flexibility of typing anything you want but you gain the assurance that only the value that you care about and you the spelling that you want is available for selection
Video Summary
In this video, Oasis LMS is shown to have an enhanced feature for setting up course metadata. The previous method allowed for free text entry, but the new update allows for setting up a list of valid values for metadata. To implement this, users can change the toggle to "list based" in the course metadata section. They can then set up metatags and select values from the list instead of entering free text. This ensures consistent and standardized metadata across courses and assets. Users can tag courses and assets with the selected values from the drop-down list, providing more control over the tagging process and avoiding variations in tagging. <br />No credits were mentioned in the video.
