We talked about drip schedule. Now we can talk about a different type of drip schedule, which is global calendar. So because I have already selected rolling start, I sort of have to clear all my selections by dragging this to clear them. So I'm going to pause and resume what I have finished clearing my old schedule. Now that I have cleared all the schedules, I can go to global calendar. When you use global calendar, what that means is all the learner will engage the content on the same schedule. So with this rolling start, if I started earlier than my peer, I will in a schedule that is earlier than my peer, and I should be able to finish earlier than my peer. In a global calendar, if I start early, let's say I started the first one and then second one like this. Okay, let's say I started like this and someone else started on September 8th, they will be able to catch up to me because it's very similar to a standard school curriculum where if you have a transfer student who transfer to the class, they will be able to go at the same pace as the rest of the class, even though he missed the beginning part of the semester because everyone is progressing on the same schedule. So that is global calendar, and the one the user start, they will have a gate, time checked gate that's based on this date. Okay, so now I'm going to delete this to explain what is a prerequisite base. Prerequisite base is similar to a drip schedule and very similar to rolling start or staggered, except that there is a delay element to it. So what do I mean by that? So I'm going to drag the first one here. Okay, there we go. So that's the first course, and then I can drag the second one on top of the first one, and notice the idea here is the user will be able to start the second module zero days after the first one. So I can actually say, actually, I want it to be seven days. I do plus seven. So now when the user finish first module, they will have seven days before the second module opens up. Notice it's very different compared with a rolling start, because with a rolling start, as soon as you start, your entire schedule is already set. Whereas with a prerequisite base, if you start module one, but you don't finish it for, say, 30 days, then module two opens up seven days after you finish module one or 37 days after you started the course. So prerequisite allows you to create a delay, not based on when they started the overall product, but based on when they finished the previous module. So I can also do this. I can say, hey, when you finish the first one, you can do the next two. So you can do it like, so obviously, they can get quite fancy with this. But the idea is you want to be able to stagger the drip, not based on when they first started the course, but when they finish the previous module.
Video Summary
In the video, the speaker discusses different types of drip schedules for content delivery. They explain the concept of a global calendar, where all learners engage with the content on the same schedule. This allows learners who start later to catch up to those who started earlier. They also introduce the concept of a prerequisite-based drip schedule, where there is a delay between modules based on when the learner finishes the previous module. This allows for a staggered drip schedule that is not solely based on the start date of the course. The speaker demonstrates how to set up these different drip schedules using a drag and drop interface. No credits granted.
