Video Transcription
Hi, in this video tutorial, we will go over various behaviors for when a course retires. So in this example, I literally created a course called Course to Show Retired Behavior just so that the course name expressly explains what I'm trying to do. And in this example, I just make it free so that it is easy for me to get access to it and I have assigned one credit across the board. So the first one I'm going to do is I'm just going to show a default behavior where the user is taking the course normally. So here you can see that the user will just mark as complete and then they will request credit that I'll just request all the credit. So this is obviously for a course that is not retired, but everyone can see how that works. Great. So what I'm going to do is I am going to come down and I'm going to reset Adam Chicago's behavior. And then what I'm going to do here is I'm going to say, great, this course is going to expire, let's say, on a particular date. So if I set the expiration date to be December 31st, that means on January 1st is when the course expires. So when you set the expiration date, it really means that the course is going to expire at the end of that day. In order to simulate this, so I'm just going to go back to the course. So remember, right now the course is set to expire at the end of this year. So if someone start the course and if let's pretend that they did not claim credit, and let's say time passes and now is January 1st, 2023. To simulate that, I'm just going to manually retire the course. Now that I have retired the course, I'm just going to come back as Adam Chicago to show that when I go here to course to show retired behavior, you will see that the user will no longer be able to claim credit. And that is because the credit has expired. So it is very important to note that this is the default behavior where when the course retires, even though the user have finished the course, if the user did not claim the credit, the user would no longer be able to claim the credit because the credit has expired as soon as the course expires. Thank you.
Video Summary
In this video tutorial, the presenter demonstrates various behaviors for when a course is retired. They create a course and make it free with one credit assigned. They first show the default behavior where a user completes the course and requests credit. Then they reset the user's behavior and set an expiration date for the course. They explain that when the expiration date is set, the course will expire at the end of that day. After manually retiring the course, they show that the user is no longer able to claim credit for the course because the credit has expired along with the course. (No credits granted in the video)
