A common question we receive is what type of reporting can Oasis provide for a SCORM package? So as an example, here is a SCORM package that is SCORM 1.2. When you upload a content that is a SCORM, you will see a little icon here that when you mouse over, you will say SCORM report. So I'm just going to download this report. So keep in mind this is a SCORM right? So you can see here this is essentially the bare minimum that the typical SCORM will provide, right? So we're just going to expand this to look at it. So the first few columns are basically allow you to identify which user it is. I'm just going to highlight this in green and then you will see that there is a few more columns. The engagement time is how long the user have spent inside the SCORM. So you can see that some users have spent about 12 minutes. Maybe this is a lot longer than 12 minutes. Anyway, so and then there's also status, whether they have attempted, completed, incomplete, and if it is complete, what is the completion date? And if there is a exam component, what is the score? So keep in mind these three columns are what we typically refer to as a bare minimum that a SCORM is going to provide to Oasis. So if you say, hey Tom, I need more data provided by your SCORM file. Unfortunately, you're not going to be able to. Oasis is not going to make your SCORM file confess other data. Your SCORM file have to tell Oasis what data you have. So here's the example. This is a SCORM 2004 and I'm going to download this Excel file. So if I click on it. You'll see that this Excel file has the same set of columns that the other Excel file has, but then if you scroll past column H, there's other things. User responses. So looks like this SCORM file has some questions, right? And there's just more. You know more data that's being captured, but it is very important to note that starting with column H all the way to column T are data points that Oasis did not ask. It is the SCORM file that's telling Oasis. So if your SCORM file does not tell Oasis, Oasis does not like we cannot ask the SCORM file to write to the LMS and 360 factor team are not savvy enough with SCORM knowledge to tell you how to create your SCORM file to push more data to the LMS. With that said, it is it is a pretty well known that SCORM 2004 has more reporting capabilities than SCORM 1.2. So that's what we have heard from our client, even though we do not know that to be true. With that said, here's an example. Give me one second. So this is a content that is SCORM 2004 as well, but just because it is a 2004 does not mean that it will have more data. So that's what I'm going to show. So you can see here just because it is a SCORM 2004 doesn't automatically mean that it's going to write more data. This one basically also wrote the minimum amount, so it's really up to the SCORM author to use the best SCORM version that's going to allow it to generate the most amount of data points, but then also choose to write those data points to the LMS in order for OASIS to capture those data points and report to you in this Excel file. Thank you.
Video Summary
Oasis provides basic reporting for SCORM packages, including user identification, engagement time, completion status, completion date, and exam scores. SCORM 2004 generally offers more reporting options than SCORM 1.2, but the specific data captured depends on the SCORM file itself, not Oasis. Oasis cannot extract more data than what the SCORM file is designed to provide. It's crucial for SCORM authors to utilize the best version and configure their files to export desired data points to the LMS for comprehensive reporting. However, not all SCORM 2004 packages automatically offer more data.
