Today, we're going to show how to use OASIS to send out e-mail campaigns. OASIS is not a full e-mail management system, so we definitely cannot do a lot of things that a true CRM e-mail engine can do. But for limited use cases, maybe OASIS built-in e-mail feature is sufficient. To illustrate this, I'm going to diagram out a real use case and how we can use OASIS to do it. So this is the first of several videos where we're going to just diagram out what we're trying to accomplish. Then we're going to use screen captures from OASIS to show how to implement the use case I'm documenting here. So it's a real use case, and I'm just going to draw a timeline to illustrate the use case. It's a use case where there is a live event that happening on March 1st, 2021. We are going to start driving traffic to it on November 1st, 2020. So almost five months before the actual event, we want to start drive traffic to it. Then this is a decision that marketing team have to do, but this is the actual use case for this particular client. Around November 25th, 2020, we're going to send out some Thanksgiving greetings. So this here is going to be the initial invitation. Then here is going to be Thanksgiving greetings. Then the registration deadline actually is January 2nd, 2021. So just one day after New Year is a deadline. What we probably want to do is we want to send last warning. I'll say, let's say 10 days before, just because this is right around holiday. If you send it on New Year day, people may not check their e-mail. Also, on December 15th, 2020, this is the early bird special end. So as you can see, there are 1, 2, 3, 4. There are four e-mail waves that we want to send out. Then we're going to overlay additional requirement for this e-mail campaign. But at least you can see that there are four waves. So terminology wise, this is called the e-mail campaign. This is called a DRIP. So keep in mind, that's DRIP 1, that's DRIP 2, that's DRIP 3, and this is another DRIP 4. So just so that when we go over to screen capture on the Oasis LMS site, you will understand when we use the terminology. That's the first thing. Second thing is, the target where each wave is being sent, each DRIP is being released is slightly different target. So for the initial invitation, we're going to target is people who signed up, who registered for 2020, not 2021. So that makes sense. So I want to drive traffic towards people who haven't registered for 2021, because there are people who potentially have already registered even before we send out the initial invitation. So we want to send to people who have not registered for 2021 but did register for 2020. So as you can see, this may not align with your use case, but at least I'm trying to use a real example to show how this flows. So right away, you can see that this information is going to be difficult to grab if you have your own emailing system. But because this data is tracking the Oasis, we can easily help you target the user. So the next part is I'm going to draw a line just so people understand right above is the target. For Thanksgiving, what we're going to do is we're actually going to send to everybody in the system, not just people who have registered for 2020, but not registered for 2021. We want to send it to everyone. So I'm going to say this is everyone, because I believe everyone deserves a little bit of cheers right before the holidays. So we're sending out to everybody, say, Happy Thanksgiving, but with a little bit of a reminder to say, hey, by the way, if you haven't registered for 2021, you really should. This one is a warning to say that all the early bird special is going to end soon. So this is probably going to be everyone who hasn't registered for 2021, right? So basically if you have already registered for 2021, I'm not going to bother you again, but if you have used our system for whatever reason, we want to send you an email. So as you can see, this is going to be a subset of this wave. And this one is going to be the same as DRIP3, right? So let's just put the number to it. This is four, three, two, one, perfect. So, and also keep in mind that because everyone, this one is going to be a huge target audience. We're actually going to split this into three waves. So you're going to bet 2.1, 2.2, and 2.3. The reason is that if we sent an email blast to everybody, you could potentially target 100,000 users, and you're going to create a flood of users to the website, and that will create a system instability, right? So just a way of a good way of using the system. You don't want to send a mass email, drive 100,000 users to the system within one minute. It will create system instability, right? So we are sending out in three waves. So that is sort of the goal, at least from a high level perspective, what we're trying to do. There's a few things that we are going to do as sort of a little subtle, right? Number one is we will honor do not email, right? Do not email. So in the screen capture recording, we'll show you exactly how Oasis is helping you honor any user's preference to say, I don't want to be marketed. So that's the first one. Second is how to track email open, right? So the idea is just because you send an email, these days people get spam all the time. The email open rate might be fairly low, right? So, but we can track how to track how many emails are open. Number three is how to track link clicks, right? The idea here is all the email trips that you send out will potentially have a link for the user click to actually take action or typically called call to action. So idea here is if we just put a regular link in there, it will work, but Oasis is not going to be able to help you track how many people click on the link, right? So there is a way to help you track the links if you use a special format in Oasis. And last but not least is how to judge the effectiveness, right? So here is, you know, if I send out this email, do I see a spike in registration? Do I see a spike in people signing up? Do I see a spike of money that's coming in? So without doing this, you know, everything above will be suffice for most of the use cases. But here are just some additional things that as soon as you figure out how to send the email, right away, you're going to start thinking about these four things. And then we're going to highlight how Oasis has already been designed with these four things in mind. So with that described, we're going to show you a few videos on how to do this within Oasis. Thank you.
Video Summary
In this video, the speaker introduces OASIS, a tool for sending email campaigns. They clarify that OASIS is not a comprehensive email management system like a CRM, but it can be sufficient for specific use cases. The speaker then describes a real use case involving a live event happening on March 1, 2021, and explains the timeline for driving traffic, sending Thanksgiving greetings, the registration deadline, and a final warning email. They use the terms "email campaign" and "DRIP" to refer to different waves of emails. The targeting for each wave varies, ranging from people who registered for the previous year to everyone in the system. The speaker outlines the importance of honoring users' preferences, tracking email opens and link clicks, and evaluating the effectiveness of the campaign. They mention that Oasis can assist with these aspects and conclude by mentioning that there will be accompanying videos demonstrating how to implement the email campaign using Oasis. No credits were given in the transcript.
