Now that we have created all the necessary components to customize our template, we're going to go ahead and actually do the customization. Click on the edit icon next to the component you want to customize, and you will notice that the rest of the component has been grayed out, so that you can focus on the particular component that you want to change. In the first component, we're going to first update the links. So we're going to call this Quick Links, followed by four links that's right here. We're going to apply the text first, and then we're going to apply the hyperlink. So here we go. The first one, I'm going to change to say Quick Links. Okay, you can see that's being changed. And then we're going to say that the first one, I would like to call it Browse by Topic. So here we go, Browse by Topic. Now we need to decide where the URL needs to go to. So to get the actual URL, I'm going to go to the different tab I have open. While I'm logged in as administrator, I go to Search Criteria, and I'm going to take the user to CME by Topic. So I'm just going to click on this icon, and I'm going to copy the URL that's going to take user to this particular search criteria. So here we go. I'm going to paste it there. And I'm going to open in current pages, and I'm going to move on. The second one is going to be Browse by Format. So I'm going to copy this in here. And for the actual URL, I'm going to click on this hyperlink, copy it, and I'm going to paste it here. So that is the URL to go to Browse by Topic. And then next one, we decided to use My Transcript. So I'm going to paste My Transcript. And for My Transcript page, it's actually I need to go to the learner facing, and I'm going to click on Transcript. And this is the page I'm going to take the user to. So I'm going to copy it, and I'm going to paste it here. So by default, I have three links to work with, but it looks like I need the fourth one. So what I will need to do is I need to click on Add Item. So I just added the item, and then I'm going to scroll down to the fourth one, and this time I'm going to do Help and Support. I'm going to put it here, Help and Support, and I'm going to click on Help. So right now I have not put any help information on my help page, but the URL is still there. So I'm going to copy this, and I'm going to paste it here. So I have successfully set up the hyperlinks on this site. I'm just going to click on Save and Close to take a look. And I do recommend that when you make changes, you do a refresh on another site, another page, especially Incarnado, just to make sure that the changes you're making is being saved correctly. So you can see that these are being saved correctly, and if I click on this, I'm actually getting sent over to just that search criteria. If I go back and I select Based on Format, I can also get the format. So it looks like the hyperlinks are working. I did notice that the background color is a little bit different between the catalog template and the default background. So this, I'm going to adjust it so that the background is white, but this adjustment is actually not part of the ocean template. It is just something that I noticed. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to come back to the admin site, and I'm going to go to the setting, and I'm just going to change the background color to white. So the overall site background is under Site Background Color, so I'm just going to change this to white. The white color is FFFFF. And I'm going to click on Save. So now, over here, I will see that the background now is no longer gray, so it feels like the catalog is filling up the entire screen. If you don't like the public menu that's being displayed here, what you can also do is you can go to the catalog setting for the template. I'm just going to remove public menu. And when I refresh the screen, it is gone. So now we're getting much closer to what our catalog will eventually look like. Thank you.
Video Summary
In this video, the speaker demonstrates how to customize a template by updating links and changing the background color. They start by clicking on the edit icon of the component they want to customize, which grays out the rest of the component. They then update the links in the first component, changing the text and adding the corresponding URLs. They repeat this process for the other components, adding new links as needed. The speaker also mentions that they noticed a background color mismatch and demonstrates how to change it by going to the admin site and adjusting the site background color. They finish by removing a public menu and stating that the catalog is closer to its final appearance. No credits were mentioned.
