Video Transcription
In this video tutorial we'll go over one particular setting for a live course and how it affects the user experience for any live course you have an option now to do allow third-party registration what this means is by default it's unchecked but when you check it what it means is the actual user who is registering for the course is not registering themselves necessarily they are they could register other people so all you have to do is uh... just make sure go to edit and check it set it to yes and then we'll go over how this affect the user experience when this is set to true so we're going to switch over to another browser where it's logged in as a regular user and we'll see how this behavior changes the user flow so we just randomly select the course and we're just going to register for the course notice that because the course is set to do third-party registration that means the user heather smith is not registering herself necessarily she can register whoever she had registered before in other settings or she can just always type in a new student's uh... new person's name we uh... the the actual registrant can be localized to say registrant or student or whatever makes sense for you just let us know we can localize this particular string to meet your use case but the idea here is you can say who you want to register one thing what you get out of the box is always a first name and last name and then you can have additional fields what we refer to as registering attributes these are the uh... fields that the user have to select as a part of the registration process if your registration have this requirement of additional attributes in addition to just first name and last name let us know and then we'll show you how to turn it on by the end of the day the user can register someone that's not them and click on add obviously they can also fill out the information by clicking by entering their own name such as heather smith and then she can obviously do this let's just quickly fill this out and anyone that she has registered before the user has registered before they can actually make the selection so you make the registration for for someone who they have worked before much much faster and then they can proceed to checkout and then the if the course is not free they will pay the proceed cost multiplied by how many users they're registering and then they will be able to proceed to checkout so this is how we are allowing the user of the system to register for event for someone other than themselves notice that whoever they're registering for is not going to be able to log into the system because the system don't know they exist the system only know that here are three people that heather smith have registered so we're just going to quickly go through the checkout process and show you what the user sees at the end okay so I fill out the credit card information and I click on confirm so the user will see the message that says thank you they will get an email and then when they go to registration they will see the three people they have registered they can also register more additional registrants in this particular case the system has localized the word registrant to student to make the user experience more more uh... in line with what they're actually doing for this particular organization but this is how OASIS now allow the user to register in addition to themselves they can also register third uh... parties
Video Summary
In this video tutorial, the presenter explains a setting for live courses that allows users to register third-party participants. By enabling this setting, users can register other people for the course instead of themselves. The presenter demonstrates how this affects the user experience by registering another person and showing the registration process. Additional attributes can be added to the registration process if needed. After paying the registration fee, users receive a confirmation message and email. The system only recognizes the people registered by the user, and they can view and register additional participants if desired. The presenter mentions that the word "registrant" can be localized to fit the organization's terminology. This feature is offered by OASIS.
