In this video tutorial, we will first go over the concept behind proctoring student for exam using OASIS virtual proctoring capabilities. In the following tutorials after this tutorial, we'll actually go through the exact mechanics of how to do it. But the first video will just highlight the concept. So first, we want to highlight exactly what the typical user experience looks like as they go through OASIS to take a test. So as you can see, the learner will visit the website, which is going to be the OASIS LMS. The user will click on the exam product somewhere on their homepage. And then when they click into the exam product is where they will be able to see a start exam button where they will click on the exam, click on the button to officially start the exam. And when they start the exam, they will be able to go from question one to question 100 if that's how many questions you have. And if it is timed exam, the timer will start as soon as a user click on start exam. When the user finish, the user will be able to submit the exam. If they didn't finish because it's a timed exam, then they will timeout. But this is the overall flow of a normal user going through exam in OASIS. Now, if we introduce proctoring, but using virtual proctoring, which means someone is not necessarily in front of the student, but is watching the student through Zoom, then they are introduced into the flow in red boxes. As you can see here, the learner will continue to visit OASIS, click on the exam product. But when they click on the exam product, learner will get pushed into a waiting room so they cannot start the exam when they want to. And that is because the proctor must admit the student to the exam. So that means the proctor will take the learner from the waiting room and send them to the exam page where they will be able to start the exam. When the learner start the exam, the same process takes over, but a proctor can lock the student out of the exam at any time for whatever reason. It is entirely dependent on proctor's own judgment, both when proctor should admit the student to the exam and when the proctor need to lock the student out of the exam. It is very important to remember that OASIS does not automatically admit student to the exam based on any criteria. It's proctor using his or her personal judgment, whether the judgment is seeing the student log online using Zoom or seeing the student in person in a classroom. So keep in mind the red boxes, the second red box is a judgment call, not a technology enforced gate check. And the last item I want to mention is OASIS recommend a proctor can proctor more than one student. As you can see in the purple lines and the proctor X is proctoring student one and two and proctor Z is proctoring student three and four. But notice proctor Y also can proctor student three and four. And you can think of it as proctor Y is backing up proctor Z. Just in case proctor Z doesn't show up, proctor Y can step in and has a permission to proctor students as well. So in this case, if you think about it, student three technically can be proctored by proctor Y and Z. And because of this relationship, we call it many to many, as in one student can be monitored, can be proctored by multiple teacher and one teacher can monitor multiple students. With that said, when proctor Y decide to proctor student three by admitting student to the exam, proctor Y will officially take over the responsibility of proctoring and the proctor Z would not be able to lock student out because proctor Y's initial action officially declare I am responsible for this student. So this is end of the first tutorial on the idea behind proctoring within OASIS. Next set of videos will go through how to set up the mechanics in OASIS to enforce this logic. Thank you.
Video Summary
The video tutorial explains the concept of proctoring exams using OASIS virtual proctoring capabilities. It highlights the user experience of taking tests on the OASIS platform, from logging in to starting and submitting the exam. It then introduces the concept of virtual proctoring, where a proctor monitors the student through Zoom. The proctor admits the student to the exam, can lock the student out, and their judgment determines when the student can start or be locked out. OASIS recommends one proctor to monitor multiple students, with backup proctors available. It concludes by mentioning that the next tutorial will cover the setup of this proctoring system in OASIS.
